We have solar panels fitted to the roof to heat the water. Solar hot water is a green, renewable heating system that reduces carbon dioxide emissions.

The walls and the roof of your room are insulated with a layer of Rockwool that improves thermal comfort since the room will stay at more even temperatures. Rockwool is also breathable, therefore it allows moisture to travel across them wall which can help dissipate damp.

Mule Malu is an (almost) plastic-free property: we try to limit the use of single use plastic to the minimum. We offer reusable and refillable glass bottled water supplied to guests and we use only degradable plastic bags or cassava bags by Avani. Liquid re-fill used for soap, shampoo & conditioner, rather than single-use bottles.

We use a BioSeptic wastewater treatment system to safely process all household wastewater and recycle it as clear odorless water before sending it back to the ground. We take water from the island and we give it back cleaned.

Our pool is salty! We've opted for a cleaning solution known as a 'salt chlorine generator' to keep our pool clear and natural. This system harnesses the power of electricity to transform salt into chlorine, effectively cleaning the pool. We don't add chlorine tablets, which means no chlorine smell and none of the usual harsh effects associated with a traditional chlorine pools :)

We select mainly locally sourced, organic seasonal ingredients for our dishes. We do not sell soft/hard drinks in plastic bottles or cans and we use bamboo or paper straws by Avani.

We crafted our 100% natural bathroom amenities with essential oils and pure ingredients, using an organic formula designed to bring joy to your daily routine. Dedicated to supporting a sustainable lifestyle, all our products are proudly made in Bali.

We provide soft brown towels for your room and striped towels for the pool or beach. By reusing them whenever possible, you help us save both water and energy. If you’d like a fresh towel, simply leave the used one on the floor and our team will happily replace it. Every time you choose to reuse, you help lighten our footprint. We are grateful for your mindfulness. 🌱

Our linens are made from natural cotton and cared for with love. To help protect Bali’s precious water and reduce energy use, we refresh them every three days. If you would prefer a different rhythm, simply let us know — we’ll gladly adjust to your needs. Your key card 🔑 activates the lights and air-conditioning in your room. Removing it when you leave ensures everything switches off, saving energy. The AC cools the room quickly, so there’s no need to keep it running while you’re out. These small actions help us reduce our energy use and care for the planet.
